B.S. Chemical Engineering
I heard about Praxair’s process engineer position through the career center at my college. After applying, I interviewed with several Praxair employees and quickly understood that the position would allow me to use and build upon my undergraduate degree.
I was hired as a process engineer for the Air Separation group. In this role, I have the opportunity to work on projects from the business development phase all the way to commissioning. Each step along the way, I work on teams with various groups, from R&D to Operations. As a team, we work to help ensure safety while minimizing costs and meeting customer needs.
Upon learning that I would be relocating to Buffalo, to be honest, I did not have high expectations. Having grown up next to New York City, I did not expect Buffalo to have the energy or opportunities of a big city. However, after exploring the city and its surrounding areas, my perception completely changed. Every weekend over the summer, I set out on my bike to explore and was greeted by the rebirth of a great city full of energy and excitement. I found farmers markets, flea markets, concerts and community events all over the city. Those who grew up in Buffalo are proud of their city and, as time goes by, so am I!
During my short period of time with the company, I have been involved in a variety of projects and proposals. Within a few months of joining Praxair, I was able to travel to Northwest Canada to evaluate the performance of a facility as it was started up for the first time. Since then, I have worked on a variety of different projects, each presenting unique opportunities and providing valuable engineering insights.
Moving to the Greater Buffalo area to work at Praxair has been an incredible learning experience and has positively impacted my growth and development. I look forward to continuing my journey here.
