Interviewing Tips

Praxair Interview Tips

During an interview, you have what amounts to a relatively small amount of time to show why you are the best person for the job, the department and Praxair.

Maximize your impact by taking time to prepare:

  • Study. Go to  and learn about our business, customers, mission, vision, values and more. Check out Praxair’s annual report. Look for recent press releases to make sure you’re up-to-date on the current state of our business.

  • Spend time on your resume. Make sure it reflects all you have to offer. Include activities, awards, experiences, education, skills and more. Check your spelling and grammar.

  • Role-play. Research potential interview questions and practice your responses.

  • Think of questions you want to ask. This shows your interest, knowledge and thoughtfulness. Focus questions on Praxair. (Discussions about pay, benefits and more occur later, after an offer has been made.) Also remember: the interview allows you to determine whether Praxair is right for you. Consider asking questions to help you gain insights about what’s important to you.

  • Prepare materials you may need. Pack a briefcase with pens, information about your interview location, the interview agenda (if one is provided), samples of “work” that show your abilities, and something for you to take notes on during the interview.

Then, maximize your impact on the day of the interview:

  • Give yourself extra time to get to the interview location. Traffic, accidents and more can cause major delays and stress. Give yourself a cushion.

  • Arrive 10 minutes early. Show you can be counted on to show up on time.

  • Dress to impress. Make sure your attire and personal presentation reflects Praxair’s image.

  • Be professional. Look people in the eye. Offer a firm handshake. Turn off your cell phone.

  • Be yourself. In part, the interview allows us to evaluate your “fit” with its culture and team. So, let the interviewer(s) see the true you.

  • Ask away! Show your thoughtfulness and interest by asking questions to learn more about Praxair.
