Uses of Argon Gas and Liquid Argon by Industry

Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)

Argon provides the most inert atmosphere possible throughout the 3-D printing process. During rapid heating and cooling of material, Argon will prevent oxidation of the metal and other reactions and can limit the impact of stress. Argon can also be mixed with other gases to create specialty blends as needed.

Argon is a versatile industrial gas used in welding applications, such as the welding of specialty alloys, and in the production of light bulbs and lasers. As an inert gas, it can also be used to provide an oxygen- and nitrogen- free environment for heat treating processes.
