Congresswoman Johnson Honored For Exemplary Voting On Key Manufacturing Issues
January 17, 2003
DANBURY, Conn. January 17, 2003 — Congresswoman Nancy L. Johnson has been awarded the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence in recognition of her consistent support of American manufacturers and their employees.
The award was presented to Representative Johnson on behalf of the NAM by the chairman and CEO of Praxair, Inc., Dennis Reilley, at a ceremony held today at Praxair’s headquarters in Danbury.
The award is presented by the NAM — one of the nation’s largest business groups — to senators and representatives based on their voting records on key legislation affecting the manufacturing community. Its recipients have shown support for a pro-growth, pro-manufacturing, pro-worker agenda. Members of Congress are notified throughout the congressional session of votes that will be considered as “key votes” used to determine eligibility for the award.
“Nancy Johnson’s voting record shows a true understanding of manufacturing’s key role in the strength of the U.S. economy,” Dennis Reilley said. “Rep. Johnson has continually demonstrated her willingness to cast the critical votes that will boost competitiveness, job creation and prosperity for working Americans.” Key manufacturing votes during the 107th Congress included trade promotion authority, tax cuts, and energy policy, among others.
“On behalf of Praxair and all our U.S. employees, I thank Rep. Johnson for championing the causes that will help U.S. manufacturers thrive,” Reilley added.
The National Association of Manufacturers is the nation’s largest industrial trade association. The NAM represents 14,000 members (including 10,000 small and mid-sized companies) and 350 member associations serving manufacturers and employees in every industrial sector and all 50 states. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the NAM has 10 additional offices across the country.
