Eduardo Gil was named president, Praxair Europe in 2016. He is responsible for the growth, profitability and return on capital of Praxair’s business in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Scandinavia, Netherlands, Spain, UK and France. Praxair also conducts business in Eastern Europe through joint ventures.
Gil joined Praxair Spain in 1981 as an applications engineer. In 1983 he was appointed specialty gases manager for Spain and later was named manager of the packaged gases business. He was named marketing manager for the bulk and on-site business in Spain, and became applications technology manager for Europe in 1997. In 1999 he was appointed director of marketing and business development for Praxair Europe. Gil was promoted to general manager for Germany in 2004. He was named managing director of Praxair’s businesses in Germany and Benelux in 2006. Gil returned to Praxair Spain and Portugal as managing director in 2008.
A native of Bilbao, Spain, Gil earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Bilbao and a master’s degree in business administration from the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid.
