Sean Durbin was appointed president of Praxair Canada in 2014. He is responsible for the growth, profitability, and return on capital of Praxair’s business in Canada.
Durbin joined Praxair in 1990 and held a variety of assignments in operations and engineering before transferring to China as a project manager supporting Praxair’s electronics business unit. In 2003, he was named general manager, Asia gases, for Praxair’s electronics business unit and returned to the U.S. in 2005 as an executive account manager. Soon after, he was named director of capital projects in the corporate group in Danbury, CT. The following year, he moved to Alberta, Canada, as director of oil sands business development. He rejoined Praxair’s Global Supply Systems in 2008 as director of large and custom plant supply systems. In 2009, he was named vice president, product management and helium, for Praxair’s U.S. industrial gases business unit. The following year, he was named vice president, operations and services for Praxair’s U.S. industrial gases business unit.
A native of Washington, D.C., Durbin holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
