Dow Jones Sustainability World and North America Indices
|
September 2012 — Praxair was selected as a component of the 2011-12 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and is the only U.S. based company in the chemical sector selected for the World Index for ten consecutive years. Membership in the World Index ranks us among the top ten chemical companies worldwide in terms of sustainability leadership.
We are also a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index, a sub-set of the World Index, which places us among the top 20% of companies in its sector in North America.
Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index was the first equity benchmark to track the sustainability performance of leading corporations. Corporations are selected for the index based on a wide range of economic, environmental, and social criteria. Among the areas evaluated are corporate governance, environmental performance, risk management, supply-chain standards, and labor practices.

Global Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index

September 2012 — Praxair was included in CDP Global Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index, one of only 7 companies to have achieved this distinction for four consecutive years. With a disclosure score of 95, we are ranked the 30th best performing company in the world for carbon disclosure.
The disclosure index recognizes the quality and completeness of the selected companies' reporting on carbon management.

April 2012 - Praxair was named to Corporate Responsibility Magazine's (CR Magazine) 100 Best Corporate Citizens List for 2012, a top ranking of corporate responsibility leaders based on publicly available information.
Praxair was among the top 25 companies of the “100 Best Corporate Citizens” selected from the Russell 1000® Index. The company’s selection was based on rankings in several categories including climate change, employee relations, environmental, financial, governance, human rights and philanthropy. Data for this list was provided by the environmental, social and governance firm, IW Financial, and the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association- a professional society focused on advancing corporate responsibility within companies worldwide -governed the methodology.

October 2012 — Praxair, Inc. was named to the 2012 Newsweek Green Rankings for the 4th consecutive year. The Green Rankings assess the environmental performance of the largest publicly traded companies in the United States and around the world. Praxair ranked No. 1 in the S&P 500 Materials sector and No. 4 in the worldwide Materials sector. Overall, Praxair ranked 151 in the U.S. 500 and 271 in the Global 500.

CEMEFI Social Responsible Company Praxair Mexico

April 2013 -Praxair Mexico received for the third consecutive year the Social Responsible Company award (ESR) from the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (CEMEFI) and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility (AliaRSE). This award recognizes the company to employees, investors, customers, and society in general, for assuming voluntary, public commitments to Corporate Citizenship, and for integrating these into their culture and business strategy. Each year, CEMEFI evaluates 4 areas: Ethics and Corporate Governance, Quality of Life in the Company, Community Engagement and Development, and Environmental stewardship and responsibility.

February 2013 — The Rebeco-SAM annual Corporate Sustainability Yearbook, authored by KPMG and the Sustainability Asset Management (SAM) Group, is based on economic, environmental and social dimensions. SAM’s approach goes beyond the conventional framework and includes other intangible business issues, such as management of innovation, customer relationships and brands. Praxair has been a Silver or Bronze class member since the report was created in 2004. In 2013, Praxair received the Bronze Class distinction.

April 2012 - Praxair is named for 3rd consecutive year as one of the Top Ten Clean-Tech Innovation and Climate Responsive Companies in U.S. Maplecroft Climate Innovation Indexes (CIIs), undertaken by risk analysis company Maplecroft, have determined Praxair as one of the top 10 leaders among the 360 largest U.S. companies in the innovation of clean-tech solutions and new products, the mitigation of climate change related risks and the management of carbon emissions.

MSCI KLD Select Social Index - April 2013: Praxair is a member of the MSCI USA KLD Select Social Index. The underlying index attempts to maximize exposure to positive environmental, social, and governance factors while exhibiting risk and return characteristics similar to those of the FTSE US 500 Index. The Index is diversified by sector and holds equities of companies with the highest social and environmental scores from each sector. In order to be eligible companies must be in the FTSE All-World US Index and tobacco companies are excluded.

January 2013: Praxair was named a Top 25 Socially Responsible Dividend Stock by Dividend Channel, signifying a stock with above-average ”DividendRank” statistics including a strong 2.2% yield, as well as being recognized by prominent asset managers as being a socially responsible investment, through analysis of social and environmental criteria. Environmental criteria include considerations like the environmental impact of the company’s products and services, as well as the company’s efficiency in terms of its use of energy and resources.
