Utility system surveys required by NFPA

NFPA-99 requires periodic testing for medical gas systems. Praxair can test your entire system for gas purity and leaks. Outlets and zone valves are checked for leaks, pressure, flow, location, condition, operation, and labeling.

Other tests cover master and local alarm functions such as location, labeling and points of activation; pressure; and source controls. Praxair technicians are MGPHO (Medical Gas Professional Healthcare Organization) certified and trained in OEM procedures.

As the world's leading supplier of bulk gases, Praxair is uniquely qualified to evaluate your bulk source supplies. Our inspections cover primary source operation, secondary reserves, and medical air intake and vacuum exhausts.

Certification: all systems go!
New medical and vacuum gas systems must be installed and certified in accordance with NFPA, The Joint Commission and state requirements. Praxair can provide the required Phase I and Phase II certification inspections.

In Phase I, leaks, cross connections, proper labeling, alarms, valves, manifolds, and outlets are verified with test gas.

Shutdowns and system tie-ins are coordinated with the plumbing contractor and healthcare facility. The Praxair technician then witnesses and verifies the tie-in.

In Phase 2, the new system is connected and re-tested for flow purity, pressure, and cross connections, after which we issue final certification.

Review
Praxair can inspect new or existing source equipment and distribution systems to assess compliance. We can also evaluate your gas demand and recommend equipment changes or upgrades that can improve performance, prevent run outs, and lower total cost of gas supply.

Schematics showing you the big picture
Especially in older systems, the schematics for the piping haven't been updated in years. Unfortunately, not having up-to-date drawings can be a major problem when you need to renovate, relocate, or upgrade your gas system.

Using CAD/CAM software, our engineers can re-create an accurate set of schematic drawings identifying locations of existing gas systems including source equipment, piping location and sensors, alarms, valves, and gauges. Descriptive labeling for all controls and valves are shown on your schematics.

Remediation: We fix what we find
Praxair sells and services a broad line of equipment for medical and vacuum gas systems. Our technicians have years of experience installing and servicing major brands. We can perform repairs on source equipment, alarms, valves, and outlets. Medical gas components can be adjusted and calibrated to NFPA and OEM specifications.

When providing replacements and upgrades, we can make recommendations on the best technology or provide you with the equipment of your choice.

Training
Brazing certification qualifies your personnel to do their own installations on smaller projects, medical gas in-services training teaches them to perform preventive maintenance, and inspector training enables them to properly supervise subcontractors. We also provide emergency preparedness training for nurses and other personnel working with oxygen and other medical gases.
