Praxair pioneered surface wear protection. As the inventors of the detonation gun, plasma spray, and HVOF processes, we continue to refine our processes and materials.
We offer high-wear resistant tungsten-carbide covers for the paper industry. These coatings have extended surface finish, gloss and roll life between grinds in machine calender, supercalender, coater rolls, dryer cans, and in the wire return sections of paper machines. Praxair has partnered with our authorized distributor Precision Roll Grinders Inc., to provide the best combination of surface and profile available to paper makers.
Praxair also offers corrosion resistant, high-wear covers available for granite replacement center press rolls through our authorized distributor Stowe Woodward. The ceramic covers applied by Praxair, finished and profiled by Stowe Woodward, have a hardness of 72 Rc and a surface energy that improves release.
Praxair's Dusseldorf, Germany and New Castle, Pennsylvania plants are specially designed to handle large rolls used in the paper industry. In addition, we have more than 25 other plants strategically located to provide a complete range of advanced coating chemistries by many different systems:
