Ongoing innovation and technological advancements.
Praxair introduced commercial cryogenic air separation technology to North America in the early 1900s, and, ever since, the company has led the development of new air separation, process and application technologies. The company currently holds almost 3,000 patents.

Praxair's core technologies are:
» Cryogenic air separation
» Non-cryogenic air separation
» Oxidation technology (combustion)
» Refrigeration
» Hydrogen production and purification
» Carbon dioxide purification

Praxair complements internal technology development with more than 100 technology partnerships that include joint ventures, joint development, cooperative R&D agreements, sponsored research, consortia, and technology procurement and licensing.

Future Technologies
There are several emerging research areas where Praxair has applicable competencies, and is working on development with materials providers, device suppliers, end-use customers and government. A few of these are:
» Fuel cells for distributed and mobile power generation.
» Superconductivity for energy transmission and energy storage
» Food safety, food quality and process-water reuse within the food industry
» Carbon dioxide capture to facilitate sequestration to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
